Biography: Scott Fishman, born July 29, 1984 in Miami, began watching wrestling on his grandfather’s knee in the late 1980s. However, the real intrigue or obsession began like most with the Monday night wars. It was a time when Scott ventured to many video stores in search of pro wrestling tapes to add to his collection. He loved Nitro more than anything, including the international stars. While the need for more additions to his vault have subsided to a certain degree for financial and sanity reasons, his love for the business remains. He attended a number of Nitro, pay-per-view and Raw events in the Florida area over the years as well as the last two Wrestlemanias. In 2003, Scott began interning and free lancing for the Miami Herald under the guidance of pro wrestling editor Jim Varsallone. It was at this point he began attending independent shows in the locally including IPW-Hardcore, Maximum Pro Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. Early interviews and stories included Norman Smiley, CM Punk, the late Mike Awesome and MVP. His most uncomfortable and stupidest question happened in the fall of that year when in a crowded Wal-Mart break lounge he asked the Macho Man Randy Savage if Hulk Hogan died tomorrow would he be sad. His first major WWE interview, aside from Sgt. Slaughter at a Florida Marlins game, was in January 2004 at a K-Mart signing. It was there he had the honor of talking to the late great Eddy Guerrero. The interview/article ran as the cover story in the final issue of Total Wrestling magazine. From there he went on to interview top WWE stars Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Edge, King Booker, Kane, Torrie Wilson, Ashley Massaro, Matt Hardy, Mick Foley, Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, Mark Henry, Carlito, Batista, MVP, Jimmy Wang Yang, and others. In March 2004 Scott took a road trip to Nashville to witness a TNA event at Asylum live firsthand. There he did his first TNA interviews with Jeff Jarrett, Johnny Fairplay, Americas Most Wanted, AJ Styles, Vince Russo and Raven. A highlight came when Scott was able to interview the legendary Bret Hart on the WWE release of his DVD. During the summer of 2006, Scott did interviews with former Miami Heat dancer and current ECW diva Layla before and after she won the Diva Search competition. Also, that year controversy loomed on comments made by the head of the ECW brand during its early days, Paul Heyman, as it related to TNA. It was one a few times where his work was cited in a breaking news story. In mid-2007, Fishman joined the Main Event Radio team to bring insight from the good old U.S.A with his weekly Flyin’ High audio segment. Scott continues to contribute to the Miami Herald and other print outlets while he finishes up school at Florida International University. |
